Our Cuisine = Our Stories began as a series of meetings at Stoa Cultural Centre in Itäkeskus (east Helsinki). Nine women from diverse cultural and occupational backgrounds met weekly for seven weeks each sharing a recipe of their choice. The aim was to share our unique experiences and personal memories through the task of food preparation. Through group discussion and creative exercises, and personal and collective narratives in association to food preparation, migration and Helsinki were explored. We all took a journey through each other’s personal stories and different cultures.
